  14. New Features in CDValet:
  15.  
  16.   1)  Hey, if you haven't noticed yet, it's got a new name!
  17.  
  18.   2)  NT 4.0 support.  CDValet now works on Windows 95 and
  19.       Windows NT 4.0.
  20.  
  21.   3)  Support for querying the CDDBD servers via HTTP.  Now
  22.       if you can get to the Web, you can use CDValet to query
  23.       the CDDBD servers, even if you are behind a firewall!
  24.  
  25.   4)  New support for submitting new entries to CDDB using
  26.       MAPI.  Now, if you run Microsoft Exchange for sending
  27.       and receiving E-Mail, CDValet can use it to submit new
  28.       entries without requiring direct access to an SMTP
  29.       server.

  31.   5)  Full integrated Windows help.  All online documentation
  32.       is now in Windows help format including popup help for
  33.       the properties and options dialogs.

  35.   6)  Multiple CD-ROM support.  CDValet will now keep track
  36.       of all CD-ROM drives in the system.

  38.   7)  CD-ROM changer support.  CD-ROM changers are supported
  39.       under both Windows95 and Windows NT 4.0 based on proper
  40.       CD-ROM driver implementation.

  42.   8)  Random mode can cross multiple drives.  CDValet can play
  43.       a track on one drive and then randomly pick the next
  44.       track from all audio CD's in the drives.

  46.   9)  Volume control on CD Control Panel can now control any
  47.       any volume mixer, i.e. main volume, CD volume, etc.

  50.       or the time and drive status.

  52.   11) The CDValet CD database is now stored in it's own files
  53.       instead of in registry. This could probably be put in the
  54.       'Bugs Fixed' list, but I see it as a feature.  ;)

  56.   12) Auto server list download.  CDValet will automatically
  57.       download the most current Internet CDDB server list.  It
  58.       will never have an out dated server list again.

  60.   13) Auto category list download.  CDValet will automatically
  61.       download the most current CDDB category list.  This list
  62.       is not anticipated to change, but if it does...

  64.   14) CD entries can now include arbitrarily long 'extended'
  65.       information for each CD and for each track.  This can be
  66.       used for information on conductors, composers, or
  67.       lyrics.

  69.   15) CDDB revision number tracking (this is maintained
  70.       internally for the Internet CDDB Servers to keep track
  71.       of updates to titles).

  87. What's New In The CD Database Manager:
  88.  
  89.   1)  Full text search.  You can now search the CDValet database
  90.       for any text string.

  92.   2)  CD Database Manager now uses a more sophisticated 'list
  93.       view'.  You can sort the list by ID, artist or title by
  94.       selecting the column header, just like in the Explorer.
  95.  
  96.   3)  CD Database Manager shows entry source (Manual or CDDB)
  97.       and submitted flag.  The submitted flag shows that you
  98.       have previously submitted the entry to CDDB.

  100.   4)  CD Database Manager now has a built in backup and restore
  101.       options.  Now it is easy to backup the CD database so you
  102.       can restore it later if you need to reload windows.

  105. Bug Fixes:
  106.  
  107.   1)  Found the cause of occasional corruption in the CDValet
  108.       database.  This would sometimes cause CDValet or the CD
  109.       Database Manager to display an error message after
  110.       trying to compact the database.

  112.   2)  Fixed problem running CD Database Manager with empty
  113.       database causing CD Database Manager to exit with an
  114.       error message or to not start at all.

  116.   3)  Volume selection now saved between startups.

  118.   4)  Extended information is no longer truncated.

  120.   5)  Fixed problem displaying '&' in popup menus.  Previously,
  121.       track titles that had an '&' in them would display them
  122.       as '_' in the popup menus.

  124.   6)  Installation script now has double quotes in the paths
  125.       for correct operation with long file names.

  127.   7)  Previous track button now re-starts current track with a
  128.       single click and goes to previous track with a double
  129.       click just like a real CD player.

  131.   8)  Fixed the processing for a CDDB fuzzy response that
  132.       sometimes caused the inability to download the selected
  133.       entry (this would sometimes cause an infinite loop of
  134.       fuzzy responses).

  137.       now behaves better with cut and pastes.

  139.   10)  Only one copy of CDValet can run at a time.

  141.   11) Improved local CDDB query accuracy.  The increased size
  142.       of the local database was causing occasional incorrect
  143.       lookups in the local database.  The increased accuracy
  144.       is, of course, at the expense of decreased a success
  145.       rate.

  151. New Features In Version 2.20:
  152.  
  153.   1)  New CD database manager program. This new
  154.       add-on program to CDValet provides for "off-line"
  155.       viewing and editing of entries in the CDValet
  156.       database. The database manager also allows you to
  157.       export the CD entries to a standard "comma-delimited"
  158.       text file for import into just about any commercial
  159.       database program.

  161.   2)  New time display options. You can now select from
  162.       four time display options for the CD Control Panel
  163.       and tray tip displays. These are: track time elapsed,
  164.       track time remaining, disc time elapsed, disc time
  165.       remaining.

  167.   3)  Enhanced introduction play mode options. A new
  168.       option has been added allow you to automatically
  169.       play the middle of each track for a specified period
  170.       of time.
  171.  
  172.   4)  The track times and CD total play time are now
  173.       stored in CDValet's database. This allows the user
  174.       to view the CD times in the CD database manager
  175.       and export the times along with the title information.

  177.   5)  The popup menu available on the CD Control Panel
  178.       now has more of the menu options that were
  179.       previously only available from the tray icon menu.
  180.       This allows the user to perform the same operations
  181.       from either menu.

  184.       most recent list of active CDDB servers. The changes

  198.   1)  Repaired the CDDB ID generation in CDValet.
  199.       Previous versions of CDValet generated incorrect
  200.       CDDB ID's for many CD's. This has been corrected in
  201.       this version.

  223.   1)  Full support for the remote CDDB server "fuzzy" search.
  224.       This greatly increases the success rate for finding your
  225.       particular pressing of a CD. CDValet displays a new dialog
  226.       when the CDDB server returns that a possible match was found.
  227.       The dialog displays the list of possible matches. You select
  228.       the CD you are currently playing from the list and CDValet
  229.       retrieves the information for that CD from the CDDB server. 
  230.  
  231.   2)  The "CD Control Panel" now contains a fully integrated volume
  232.       control. No more looking around someplace else when you
  233.       really want to crank it up for your favorite song! In
  234.       addition to the volume control, CDValet has a small volume
  235.       indicator AND if you click on the volume indicator it's a
  236.       "Mute" button!

  238.   3)  Improved tray icon functions. You can now use the tray icon
  239.       for selecting the next and previous tracks in addition to
  240.       being able to pause the CD. A single-click on the icon is
  241.       Pause, a double-click is Next Track and a triple-click is
  242.       Previous Track.

  244.   4)  A new exit option. This option allows you to either stop
  245.       the CD player when you exit CDValet or to leave the CD
  246.       playing.

  248.   5)  Enhanced Introduction Play mode. The Introduction Play
  249.       mode now has unlimited offset and unlimited duration
  250.       settings.

  252.   6)  The CD control panel has a new improved layout to include
  253.       the volume controls and also has new easier to see buttons.

  256. Bug Fixes in Version 2.10:

  258.   1)  The CDDB server error: "Server handshake error #500" has
  259.       been fixed. This was caused by Windows95 user names or
  260.       computer names that had spaces in them, such as
  261.       "Greg H. Leichner" or "My Computer". 
  262.  
  263.   2)  Various errors connecting to some SMTP servers have been
  264.       fixed. CDValet is now compatible with the vast majority of
  265.       SMTP protocol implementations. 
  266.  
  267.   3)  The problem when initially connecting to the CD player(s)
  268.       that resulted in the message "Unable to find audio cd on
  269.       any players in system." or the message "CD player has
  270.       already been opened by another application. Exit the other
  271.       application before running EasyCD." has been fixed.

  273.   4)  The CD Information dialog now behaves better when typing in
  274.       the track titles. The 'Enter' key can now be used to complete
  275.       the current track entry, and it will the automatically go to
  276.       the next track. No more: type, type, type, grab mouse, click,
  277.       back to keyboard, type, type, type.
